A poster for the Tribeca Film Festival celebrating 50 years of the movie 'Jaws'

problem

The brief was to create a poster for a film festival, choosing a film that could provide a strong starting point for the visual concept. I chose Jaws because its 50th anniversary coincided with the project, creating an opportunity to reinterpret the film through the identity of the Tribeca Film Festival.

solution

The poster combines iconic elements from Jaws with references to Tribeca and Lower Manhattan. The One World Trade Center is reimagined as a swimming pool, creating a visual link to the festival’s origins in the revitalisation of the area following 9/11, with the shark placed at its centre. Red tones inspired by the neighbourhood’s brownstones and details from a typical pool setting complete the composition.

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of Jaws, this project explores how an iconic film can be reimagined through the identity of a place. Inspired by Tribeca’s connection to Lower Manhattan and the World Trade Center, the poster transforms the One World Trade Center into a swimming pool, bringing the film’s iconic shark into the heart of New York while creating a playful connection between the movie, the festival, and its surroundings.
